What is the “Celebrate the Jubilee” study?

“Celebrate the Jubilee” is a tool for Christians to address the issues of pornography and other issues of integrity that destroy lives, families and relationships.

The study is designed to help your small group overcome some of the hurdles men’s groups often have when trying to generate honest, personal discussions.

Who is this study for?

This study is designed for a small group of Christian men. It is best-suited for groups with between 3 and 10 men.

We encourage group leaders to see if the format and content of this study is appropriate for the small groups they lead.

Why use this study?

In many men’s group situations, specifically with regard to the subject of sexual sin, there may be hesitancy to open up to a deep level of love and understanding with one another.

Anxiety and fear are often the hurdles which keep men from giving and receiving honest and helpful feedback.

However, “Celebrate the Jubilee” is designed to offer a real opportunity to break through the anxiety and fear—to break the chains of secrecy, and provide an atmosphere of compassion, freedom and honesty.

What is the format of the study?

“Celebrate the Jubilee” is a script, like a play. The script follows the story of six characters who meet regularly as a men’s group. In a series of meetings, these men begin to open up and talk about their integrity.

The script is divided into six chapters, one for each meeting. One chapter should be read aloud and discussed at each of your study meetings.

Each chapter ends with study questions to help prompt discussion.

Why a script?

Many men don’t speak freely, even with people they trust, about sexual sin. This is a sensitive topic, and many of us are afraid of others finding out about this particular area of sin that we may have.
The script format for this study accomplishes two goals that can help men begin to speak about this topic.

  1. By actually reading aloud the dialogue in the script, men in your study group will see a demonstration of honesty, confession and vulnerability that they can model their own discussions on.
  2. The discussion questions at the end of each chapter provide a way for men to talk about the issues—whether they refer to characters in the script or to their own lives.
